This operation appears to be a direct warning to both the Houthis and Iran, signaling America’s ability to strike heavily fortified and deeply buried facilities.
While the full extent of the damage caused by the strikes remains unclear, this is the first use of the B-2 bombers in combat in several years and the first instance of the aircraft targeting sites in Yemen. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasized that the strike demonstrates America’s capacity to reach adversaries’ most protected locations.
